To all pro , i wanna ask , is there any fsb wall for E4300/4400/4500 ?
I really cant use 400mhz bus(370 also) to run properly, even keep restart when loading windows.

Every processor have their own fsb wall. Some good processor can go as high as 600 but sometime its cant even go above 400. So you need to test it urself. Try to pump more voltage into NB.

i just got that one (rev2.1) today but wondering hows the OC ability of this board. anybody reached sub 500fsb?

sadly i dont plan to upgrade to penryn anytime soon. The website stated there is no cpu support for penryn at the moment =/

maybe bios update will be released for penryn cpus. rolleyes.gif

later version of p35 boards should be able to support 45nm chips, my exboard (p5k-e) supported penryn so i suppose yas is d same too. smile.gif

Not to worry. If you look at some of gigabyte's P35 mobo, some of them already have bios updates that supports penryn. If I'm not mistaken, the P35-DS3R already has bios supporting penryn.

I guess we just have to wait until a bios supporting penryn is released for the P35-DS3.....

My stupid rig. tongue.gif

2.66 -> 3.24 (fsb = 162)
P5rd2-vm
Kingston value ram 4200 ( 533mhz -> 650mhz)
Power supply
pure power = 300watt
max power = 600watt

I Was only capable of making it 3.24.

1)Any1 know what to do with my comp to make it higher ? Some advise needed smile.gif

2)Other than that, whats your result?

3)How long do you take to make a total stable OCed system
xixo_12
maybe u can join the exist thread.. dun create new topic.. some more change ur psu before oc
decarusz
Which 1? biggrin.gif I got hard time finding topic about overclocked pentium d 805 .

Added on January 2, 2008, 10:09 pmU mean my power supply... How much watt does it need for a normal OCed system?
ciohbu
try change ur psu...power stability is important in OC...PD 805 can easily go over 3.4Ghz..if cooling gud then can reach 4G

Lol.. thanks alot.. i started OC 4 days ago...I wonder if i was just too impatient... I will do some Burn in 1st...See can push up summore.. smile.gif

well the fsb wall can be from the motherboard too... like wat i am facing now.. my fsb limit for the board is 450Mhz... cant go any higher..as i am using the e6750.. time to change my mobo.. cry.gif

Hi!

I'm quite a noob when it comes to overclocking, and all my previous rigs were left at stock speed.

I have an E4500 running at stock speed, together with a MSI p6N SLI Platinum motherboard. With 2 GB of DDR800 Ram.

Can anyone share with me an efficient method for overclocking? I just want to get the best bang for my buck for purchasing this processor hastily.

How far can I go? Considering I would like to stay in the safe levels with my stock HSF.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
decarusz
No la.. My motherboard there limit is 400.. If i go 170 hang and blue screen at window. LolZ... sian liau...

Need ask something about my memory..Few days ago i reach
proc at 3280mhz and ram at 660mhz
My memory read speed is 4733mb/s
When i decided to go up abit at 3300, my pc hang and blue screen at window while having stability test.Atleast i got my benchmark result.
Proc at 3300mhz and ram at 660mhz
My memory read speed at 4040mb/s (what!!) It reduced by 693mb/s
When i go back to that 3280mhz and ram at 660mhz.
The memory speed result wasnt the same as the 1 i had before. It was even lower.. The speed at 4002mb/s.. lolZ..
The 4733mb/s wasnt some typing or printing error. I had the benchmark twice and the other was at 4667mb/s.

Any1 know what to do to get back that 4733mb/s ?.. tongue.gif
I use lavalys EVEREST for cache and memory benchmark..

Added on January 3, 2008, 2:18 pmafrodeity.. U know how 2 OC right? How far u can go that u have to test for urself.. Like mine.. Due to lack of powersupply i only can go 20%higher. lol..

Recently I got myself some Crucial Ballistix Tracers (D9 good stuffs plus lovely LED's) and it brought my E2140 and DS3L overclocking to new heights.
I now manage to run 435 x 8 (3.48Ghz) and still going biggrin.gif

As always, I will post a screenshot with Orthos still running as Super PI alone doesn't prove much (if it's only Super PI then it makes my life a lot easier laugh.gif)

d highest i've seen so far is 3600GHz for a E2180, but it was just manage to run SP 1M only. smile.gif

if yas can prime @ 3.5GHz, i wonder @ what clock it can do SP 1M... 3.7GHz perhaps... drool.gif

Wow! That's a gem! You're running at the same speed as my E6750!!! rclxub.gif

May I know how much additional vcore did you pump into it? hmm.gif
clawhammer
ah_khoo, actually I can get into Windows above 3.5Ghz but it doesn't Prime correctly (fails after a few minutes) so some tweaks, etc is needed biggrin.gif Btw, has anyone used this motherboard to go above 450FSB 1:1?

kmarc, your E6750 still rules since it only need 1.425V and as for my E2140, I need 1.58V (in the BIOS) to get it working. That's a lot ain't it? laugh.gif

for sure d board can do 450 on 1:1, d only thing will probably stand in your way is d limitation of chip, but given ya achievement atm, it shouldn't be far from that. smile.gif

good batch of e6750 usually can do 4.0GHz bench able, prime wise i think 3.8~3.9GHz is possible with 1.4~1.5v. flex.gif
clawhammer
3.8-3.9Ghz at 1.4++ Vcore is pretty good I'd say smile.gif

Wah, so high. For me, 1.425v already scared..... haha.... don't dare run at higher vcore 24/7... smile.gif
clawhammer
The only thing you want to worry about is the temp. If it's 60C range full load, I'm still alright unless it goes beyond 70 or high 60's.

It takes a while to get those courage and since I've done it so many times, the worry becomes a lot lesser biggrin.gif

yes i did, i am very articulate with OC but i think myhardware is limiting my approach.. my cooling, or my boards FSB limit. Coz the Limit is at 460Mhz(Fsb).. i need a better board i believe.
kmarc
Yeah, I'm a real chicken when it comes to this. Folding load at 55'c is comfortable for me. Anything above 60'c, already sweat.gif

Just don't want the hassle of RMA, that's all..... smile.gif

*

Err..... for vdimm, you should be more worried of your rams rather the the mobo eh.....

If you're using crucial rams, not recommended to run 24/7 above 2.2v. 2.2v should be the max irregardless of ram cooling.

However, remember that these are based on other overclockers' experiences.... smile.gif
clawhammer
kmarc, I understand what you mean and it is scary if you've never done it before. Perhaps when you overclock further, you'll eventually have the courage to pump in 1.6Vcore? laugh.gif

tapirus, this is a bit subjective because the concern is always about heat and many times, hardware died because of excessive heat. For someone that lives in an igloo, pumping 2.5Vdimm shouldn't be a problem but for us, the safe spot would be around 2.2V IMHO smile.gif
