Waah, u came in, u ask some question, then that fella answered u nicely, and then you reply him like that ah? so if you think you know e'thing, then y are you seeking help in the 1st place?

4 things i realised that you need to consider in oc'ing : -

1. Power, PSU mesti bagus punyer...
2. Voltage Tweaking, you need more voltage on Vcore or Vdimm so that it can operate in higher freqs (yeah i know it sounds n00b, but screw it)
3. Ram kene bagus punyer.. if value ram, hopefully you get those good value rams, and add lots of cooler and increase Vdimm like hell..
4. Temp, what cooler u using now? if stock, mmg susah nak naik high freq.. note on cooler though, not only cpu cooler, but northbridge cooler as well
*

To techno, I am using P35 DS3 bios F2 using cpu e4300

To rock,
I will apologise if I sound too rude but U should read how he reply. Somehow, he got the the wrong side of my nerve.
To ur question,

1. I am using strider 560w (not bad right?)
2. I manage to OC to 3Ghz using 333 X 9. but unable to do 400 X 7 (Shouldn''t be voltage problem right???)
3. I got performance RAM running DDR2 800 ~!!!! (SO???)
4. Using TT V1 3Ghz below 60'c load orthosing. My motherboard heat reading is below 50'c so don't need extra cooling, right?

So my question is, Is it bios the problem that is limiting my CPU from running 400 X 7 ???

no need, cause windows xp is 32bit and it will only detect 3.4GB and even i used GB last tiem also more than enough.

ur G-skill is value ram?
if u get another 2 stick of ram and install it to 4gb,since ur g-skill still there,if u oc also will encounter the problem,

u better take it off and replace with another ram and see whether is ur mobo or ur ram problem.

you borrow me your leet ram to test la, then if work i go buy lor.

your main question was about bios, and IINM, ppl say that P35 DS3 is actually a really good oc'ing mobo, so i don't think it's the cause of the un oc ability.. need to ask those who's using p35 mobo about the bios they're using.. but i always go with the latest bios.. is f2 the latest bios? let's answer the others..

1. 560w strider ah? im using the same ler..
2. 333x9 bley, but 400x7 takle? possible explanation is either of this two, cpu hit wall at 400MHz FSB, or something is wrong with you rams..
3. Your rams.. ddr2 800MHz performance, did you tweak it in the bios? try loosening up its timing, or it's speed.. wanna see what's actually causing the prob.. either your cpu, or your rams..
4. hmm, suppose no need extra cooling ler...

oc'ing is about patience and luck for.. i don't have the patience sometimes tongue.gif
kmarc
I don't think it is the mobo unless you got a defective one. My P35-DS3's bus speed can go up to 480mhz without any increase in vMCH or vFSB. I was lazy to test for stability so I just increase those voltages by +0.1v.

To me, the P35-DS3 is a good overclocking mobo for it's price - you can say that it is a good budget overclocking mobo. The vdroop can be quite bad though......
waif
To kmarc,

which bios are U using?
kmarc
I'm using F3. Lazy to flash to the latest one, I think it is F5 beta now....

hey guys, err, is it a must to use a cooler for the cpu? <heatsink@liquid>

update bios ler.. F4 long time redi.. i think im using F11..

value ram ddr2 667 ah? then so hard for you la if wanna oc.. but if you really want to try higher oso, then you need to really loosen up the timing, i.e. 6-6-6-18 or some sort..
if still can't work, then try increasing your vdimm

but vdimm so high, u can damage your ram.. so jaga2 larr

im at 450fsb, using vcore 1.225 only, try setting vcore on that or probably 1.2V, then check it out..

also, try using better cooler, 60degC is quite hot...

When running Orthos, my rig always restarts at the 20th min of CPU and Memory Blend Testing.
This happens when I overclock my E6850 to 3.8 Ghz, (at 3.6Ghz no problem.)

I checked the temp using CoreTemp and it remains at 53-57 under load on 3.8 GHz.

I did increase the CPU voltage till 1.55 and the NBR voltage, my VDIMM is at 2.2v (using Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1066) memory timing set to 5-5-5-15
FSB was at 425Mhz. But it still restarts at the 20th min of testing.

Any advice is appreciated.

i'm using P35-DS3P motherboard , E6400 CPU , 2GB XMS2 DHX Corsair 800MHz C4 ram, zalman 9700LED cooler, FSP 600 watts true power.

i'm currently running at 3.2GHZ without problems, however if i wish to go beyong 3.2GHz exp. 3.4GHZ , 3.5GHz i encounter problems during start up blue screen , auto restart etc ..... but you guys here managed to go beyong 3.5GHZ o.O

400MHZ X 8 multiplier = 3.2GHZ
my VCORe voltage is : 1.450V
RAM voltage : 2.2v
ram timing : 4-4-4-12
memory ratio 1:1
now RAM running at 800MHz

now i using system voltage control to AUTO .

North bridge i increase 0.075V << i donno the actual V for northbridge i just simply increase it lol... rclxub.gif

[Q] Is it normal that the system will reboot during its first power on after BIOS memory setting changed ? (965P-DQ6, 965P-DS4, 965P-DS3,965P-S3) – FROM GB’S FAQ
[A] For 965P-DQ6, 965P-DS4, 965P-DS3, 965P-S3 motherboard, if the memory setting is not the chipset spec of 800/ 667/533 MHz in the BIOS setting during system installation, then the system will re-write the initial motherboard parameter when the first boot after BIOS seeting. After the re-write is done, the system will reboot. The shutdown and reboot after the first power on is normal situation.

Your rams are not faulty. You guys always get confused with SPD timings. Whats SPD? google it. Your ram is indeed capable or shall i say rated at 4-4-4-12. Its just that the ram is being programmed as 4-4-4-13 in the eprom. SPD timings are just to ensure full compatibility to support other mainboards...and not meant to taken as actual ram speed. Set you ram speed in bios at the rated speed. I can guarantee you no problems.

I don't think you rams can do 1000Mhz 4-4-4-12 no matter what voltages you pump in. These type of rams is not really that performance rams as claimed. Crucial rams with D9xxx chips or any other rams with D9xxx chips be it value rams or not is the best OC rams.

you can try each timing to find out the sweet spot for your rams.

HyperX...dun buy. My previous HyperX DDR2 800Mhz can only do 1030Mhz 5-5-5-12. And your rams isnt voltage friendly...even if you bump in 2.3v, you still cant run 1000 at 4-4-4-12.

How much power is needed to overclock the processor E6600 from 2.4GHz to 3.4GHz?... Im using 420W power supply when i overclock the processor till 3.4 and run a stability test... The CPU activity flunctuates sometimes... and the +12V sensor indicates that the voltage from 12 goes to around 11.88V when CPU going full speed...
