if you change mobo, you need to reinstall the os and drivers, unless you change from an (example) abit kn9 ultra to another kn9 ultra..then dont need to reinstall

Its better to get aftermarket HSF like bigtyphoon or thermalright.. Then it will be more safer to oc ur PD.

it seem to me ur CPU is under voltage
here mine, i can only run on 3360 mhz. cant get any higher, coz it wont boot in my lousy 945 chipset of mine (which doesnt allow me to do CPU voltage), n its on 39-40c on Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 with air con on in my room now

Netburst multiplier already fixed. Only the Extreme Edition can change. max vcore maybe around 1.5v similar to C2D on air. Between use latest CPU-Z. I think ur oc on stock cooler already at best possible.

Waah, u came in, u ask some question, then that fella answered u nicely, and then you reply him like that ah? so if you think you know e'thing, then y are you seeking help in the 1st place?
4 things i realised that you need to consider in oc'ing : -
1. Power, PSU mesti bagus punyer...
2. Voltage Tweaking, you need more voltage on Vcore or Vdimm so that it can operate in higher freqs (yeah i know it sounds n00b, but screw it)
3. Ram kene bagus punyer.. if value ram, hopefully you get those good value rams, and add lots of cooler and increase Vdimm like hell..
4. Temp, what cooler u using now? if stock, mmg susah nak naik high freq.. note on cooler though, not only cpu cooler, but northbridge cooler as well

I am new to OC'ing, and I just recently overclocked my E6400 2mb Cache (2.13gHz) to 3.2gHz. I came across a problem of when I run a stress program (Orthos and Stressprime) I get this error message saying: (Execution Halt fatal error hardware failure refer to stress.txt). That's what happens when I do a blend test of cpu and ram. But when I try to do a cpu only stress, there was no problems? Is the ram limiting me? I am only at 1.35V and 3.2gHz with temperatures of 45 idle and 54 load. I think i can push more any tips?
My setup:
Intel C2D E6400 @ 2.13gHz
G-Skill PC6400 DDR2 800 / 4-4-4-12
Asus P5B (P965 chipset)
the fsb i set is currently 400, the fsb to ram speed ratio is still at 1:1.
Anyone can tell me what's wrong? OR do i really have to clock down?
AceCombat
Oct 6 2007, 02:20 PM
ur ram should be at 800MHz and 4-4-4-12 timing right?should be no problem, since u have a good ram.
try to pump a bit only vdimm to ur ram.
ZomgWtfHax
Oct 6 2007, 02:42 PM
I jumped the gun and pump up my voltage to 2.1V (i am determine to fry my system so i have an excuse to get a new one) and still doesn't fix the problem. I turned my fsb down to 385 and no problems at all. I think it's the ram.
So now another noobish question, lets say it is the damn ram. Then right now i go get a better performance ram that is rated at 800 but can go more, but I mix it with the current ram the problem will still be the same? or Do have to remove these rams and use only the new ones. I have 2gb now, maybe buy another 2gb for fun. I think i am being over paranoid. I am using vista now, and my system at idle is already taking 30 - 38% of my ram. Do you think i need 4gb ram?

no need, cause windows xp is 32bit and it will only detect 3.4GB and even i used GB last tiem also more than enough.
ur G-skill is value ram?
if u get another 2 stick of ram and install it to 4gb,since ur g-skill still there,if u oc also will encounter the problem,
u better take it off and replace with another ram and see whether is ur mobo or ur ram problem.
