Only the abit mobo has that option...

GAT to AAADD?.. my mobo seem dont have these option @ bios.. what is dat for anyway bro?.. the multiplier for this mobo is also have been locked @ 20.. do u know how to unlock it?.. by the way i'd figured out the lies.. the cpu:dram ratio depends on the cpu itself.. after i change the option ->n/b strap cpu as<- "PSB 533" from "by CPU" the cpu:dram option "1:1" and "4:5" appeared.. now im running my P4 2.0 @ 2.8 @ 1.65V(49 idle, 62.5 load).. cpu:ram - 140:175(multiplier x20).. ram timing 3-4-4-8 @ 2.7V.. would like to ask ur opinion bout what more can i do next bro?..

i tot is 7 has this option in bios?

if want to play preschot..then make sure u have a very very good cooling. Find the E0 stepping is the best.

2.8E is good enough to oc it

want to ask about the RAM dividers
I'm using a Asus P4P8X (865P chipset)
2 stick on KVR DDR400 ram totalling 1GB RAM with dual channel config
P4 C (2.8Ghz)

Under the DRAM Frequency setting which sets the divider, there's only [Auto] and [400] setting....no [333] and [266]
So is my divider locked at 1:1 ratio?
And what cause this problem? izit the chipset, ram or incompatibility issues?

thx in advance notworthy.gif

400 = 1:1
333 = 5:4
266 = 3:2

yeah, i'm aware of that
but my problem is that there are only auto and 400 option in the dram freq there. So i was wondering why there isn other ratio sweat.gif

i thought so too, in the manual shows that option as well...but somehow it seems to be lock at 1:1
wonder if theres any way to tweak the bios or something to enable the feature sweat.gif

I just noticed today that with current new BIOS, the P4P800-E Dlx has PAT enabled even if you've OC-ed to 260MHz FSB. Previously, PAT would only be enabled on this board at stock 200MHz.

I'm having problem overclocking my pc. Here's my pc spec.
PC spec
Pentium 4 3.0E
MSI 865PE Neo2
Corsair TwinX XMS 4000PT 512MB (500mhz) 3.4.4.8

I've tried overclocking my RAM's clockspeed to 500mhz (currently running 400mhz) but it couldn't boot. I tried running at 433mhz, it works fine but i wonder y i can't overclock it to 500mhz. The other day i asked a guy in the shop. i told him to test on my RAM. he showed me how he did it. yes indeed he really could overclock it to 500mhz with the same set of mobo n processor as mine. I've tried configured everthing in the BIOS setup but it still doesn't work. wonder wats wrong with it.
Can any1 help me out? Pls gimme some guidance. Maybe i did something wrong overclocking it.
Thx ^^

if i oc my p4 lets say 3.0ghz to 3.5ghz... then i remove the proc n install it to another mobo, will it (d proc speed) remain 3.5ghz (oc) or return tu 3.0ghz (stock)...

thank u...

ddr ram voltage... it is just like vcore to raise ur cpu voltage, so this is likewise. Depend on mobo has this option or not

u o/c to 3.3Ghz but still 3dmark05 below 3k??

Shoot@M3
The tightest I can go is around 2.5-3-3-6 I think. But it wasn't stable so I had to loosen a little. Been OC'ing it for 2 years plus now but changing the OC from time to time cos not stable for little gaming. Only recently change casing, new cooling etc etc. tongue.gif

Speaking of old procs..
the black celerons, pentium2 era.

Had a c400 that blew up OCed to 420 only laugh.gif
Now i have a c500 that takes 525 easily. The fastest model by intel for this series was a 533. How far do you think this proc can go?

Can it actually make it to 560 or so? Or better stick with 525?
Shoot@M3
Not so sure but I think what they say is celeron is not so good at OC. I had OC a 600EB to733MHz before but not stable. I think tualatin are much better in OC. Rite now using a Tualatin 1GHz OC at 1.32GHz. Rite now using it 24/7 at 32C temp load. Quite ok still. Advice is better check ur temp and dun push volt first. Make sure you lap properly the thermal paste cos I noticed before some mobo dun even fire up if you put the processor and HS wrongly <-- not touching. You may boot for a while then hang... You will know why if you take off the HS and while switched on, touch on the proc <-- erm not advisable tongue.gif

Your both Celeronof 400 amd 500 are of Mendocino. Or called Celeron I. The max speed of the family is 533mhz. It used 250nm process.

Chances of going higher than 533 is very low. Even at 533, it was not stable also.

The heat is an issue. Maybe you can try with those today's latest heatsink to see if can cool down your Celeron fast enough so that you can go higher.

The Celeron II, the Coopermine family of 180nm process, were an excellent overclocker. The speed started from 533 until like 1000 or 1100.

You had a 600EB ? That is not Celeron, but P3. E means Coopermine/180nm and B means 133mhz FSB. Celeron has only 66 and 100 FSB.

For P3 of any EB speed, they were not popular among overclocker. Due to unable to clock higher. Not because of processor, but because of mobo limitation. And mobo limitation were mainly limited by the ram speed (pc100/133 sdaram).

Celeron Coopermine. When first released, were the hot cake among overclockers. 566mhz at 8.5 x 66, were easily overclocked to 8.5 x >95 to achieve >800mhz speed.

And better yet, eventhough Celeron has only 128k cache, compare to P3 of 256k cache, the performance at same mhz speed were less than 10% difference. But the price of a 566mhz Celeron was like 1/3 of a 800mhz P3.

valiant13
does anybody overclock their p4 2.4b?? i'm planning to OC my proc.. bt the prob is that my mobo doesnt have a temp sensor.. so i cant actually gauge the temperature that my proc is at.. so i need sum guidance to where is my OC limit? my mobo is giga sg667

Oops. Yes the 600EB I mentioned was actually P3 not celeron. That means coppermine are good OC as well. thumbup.gif

Wow, thanks for the explanation epsilon99. On my Tualatin, I was limited by the mobo settings and couldn't go any further. If only I can go further then I would be able to test how good Tualatin's are. So far haven't notice any instability on my rig yet

well prescott is already kinda hot processor itself... increasing the vcore...would make it bake ...lol whats your current temp anyway ?

max is 50 under full load at current settings 1.43v for vcore.

anything above 240 fsb.. , it'll fluctuate like maddd...
jumping like 3.6ghz -> 2.4ghz -> 2.8ghz -> 1.8ghz -> 3.5ghz -> 3.2ghz

If you have a proper cooling it shouldn't be a problem. For Stock HSF, 1.5-1.525v is the safest.. smile.gif

I normally pump up to 1.525v on stock HSF..
