I noticed the latest bios hehe. biggrin.gif But i will need to RMA this board because the built in network got hit by lightning. doh.gif I will replace it with DFI Infinity instead and maybe get another cpu gem from another guy.

So anyhow in the meantime, why does it reset the OC setting when i restart after shut down ?
*

Your system is not stable that's why reset back to default settings, did u test it with Orthos?Sometimes Orthos can fail even after 3 hours lol, i only tested mine for 30mins then play games already tongue.gif, well here's mine at 3.08Ghz, don't want to go higher cos it's getting really hot. Need to use around 1.35v to run at 3.2ghz sweat.gif

Specs
DS3 Rev1.0(Earliest version tongue.gif )
Crucial Ballistix Tracer @2.0v
vMCH +0.1v
Vcore manually set at 1.325v
The rest all default
Load temp around 62c rclxub.gif

Still better than me, i'm using 1.5V to be stable at 3.2GHz. Haven't test lower voltage but so far this looks good. 1.6v is really too much. Tried tighten the memory at default voltage to 4-4-4-4 and looks fine too after some CMR:Dirt demo games played by my nephew for almost 2 hours. I tried 4-4-4-5 at 1066 with Option 2 but memtest fail a lot after around 70% sigh at 2.3V. Temp around 40C idle now, hot day, full load gaming around 50C, dual core stress using Intel TAT around 70C.

Here's a pic.

Intel TAT cpu stress test. Always gives the highest temp of all. Why ?

Oh and i got 3 questions:

1. I set my TRAS timing in Bios to 4 but how come in windows still detect as 5 ? I have to use memset beta to set it to 4. rclxub.gif Any solution ?

2. Why some apps seems to read my clock wrongly. Even windows itself is recognizing my machine as running at 3600MHz. And Core Temp reports me using my older FSB setting of 450x8. doh.gif Any idea how to fix this reading errors ?

3. What is this temp ? Northbridge and Southbridge ? icon_question.gif ... oh and why speedfan fan reading is always wrong ? shakehead.gif

Kinda low, you should try lower timing, maybe 4-4-4-10 or more extreme at 3-3-3-8? brows.gif

Is tat reading is Tjucntion or Tcase? If Tcase that maybe too hot. If Tjunction it is still ok.

With regards to my earlier post, I've check with a friend and he mention that CPU temp should be lower than what I'm experiencing at the moment.

Thus, can clarify if the following is normal or I'm looking at some hints of problem here?

C2D e4300 with stock fan.
(check via Intel TAT)

Original setting (1.8GHz , 200x9):
Idle : 50 degree C
Peak: 60 degree C
Avg: 54-55 degree on CPU-1 , 52 degree on CPU-2

OC to 2.5Ghz (2.5Ghz , 285 x9):
Idle: 55 degree
Peak: 69 degree C
Avg: none (yet to complete the OC stablility test).

Is my CPU hotter than normal or is it a normal temp ?
*

TAT and CoreTemp showing similar value. Plus/mimus of about 1-2degree

Sorry for the bump, but any assistant?
Bliz
That kind of temperature seems a bit high for a E4300, i believe the thermal characteristic should be very similar to my E6300. When i was using stock cooler, clocked at 2.8Ghz@1.325v it's only around 60c load, using Artic Silver 5 smile.gif

I'm wondering, why is there such a high differences between a Gigabtye's Hardware monitor, SpeedFan, Intel TAT and CoreTemp ?

Using my pc for testing,
Gigabyte = avg 30-40 degree
SpeedFan = avg 40 degree

Intel TAT = avg 50 degree
CoreTemp = avg 50 degree

Gigabyte is measuring of cpu temperature. I not sure about SpeedFan.

But, Intel TAT and CoreTemp is measuring based on ur DTS of the processor which is the hottest part in the processor itself. That why Intel TAT and CoreTemp will report more higher temperature than others.

Hi guys, im planning to get a e6600 and oc it to about 3.2ghz (400*8), but im not sure which board i should get... my esys are on dfi infinity p965s, but is it better to get a gigabyte p965 or a gigabyte/asus p35 board instead?

p/s: for ram i'll get crucial ballistix tracer pc6400.
coolice
to gigabyte user,im not sure anyone mention it b4 but i figure out this
for the ram divider
x:y,take y*2 and then divide by x,then u will get wat is shown in bios
for example
2:3 divider
(3*2)/2=3.00
SlayerXT
If u love infinity series y dont ya wait for p35 version, dark series. Nice upgrade planning there.

Your mobo have 1066FSB strap? If the divider setting is under 1066FSB strap there should be more room for overcloking.

Not necessarily. But if new technology come out the price will be similar like previous generation like what P35 does to 965P...

Anybody having cheaper gigabyte mobos besides the P35-DQ6? Like P35-DS3 or P35-DS3R?

What's the average overclocking ability of this mobo (fsb), especially the DS3? I'm planning to get this mobo together with the E6750......

Not much review on DS3 although some reviews on DS3R showed that this mobo can go up to 500Mhz on FSB.....
extremeocer
My DQ6 could do 600FSB but right now i am limited by my CPU...running stable 4.3Ghz on a e6600. DS3 should be able to have the same performance. Heat is ur enemy...always have a good cooling.

DS3's heatsinks is nothing compared to DQ6. I do hope that the DS3 can be a good overclocker too. I know DQ6 rocks but so is the price sweat.gif

100% OC meaning your FSB is at 400 Mhz right? Or did you lower the multiplier?

BTW, how high can the FSB go on your DS3? Really interested to know.....

If I get the E6750, 400Mhz only means that I can OC 8x400=3.2 Ghz only!

I want to go higher! Of course, hopefully my proc can go higher....... smile.gif

I know what he meant. 100% meaning from 1.8 Ghz to 3.6 Ghz. If he used 9x multiplier, that means he would have to increase the bus speed from 200Mhz to 400Mhz, wouldn't he?
SlayerXT
That "if" he use 1:1. But maybe will use devider for FSB, then CPU clock cant be 100%.
