Ok, just install the thermaltake bigtyphoon vx...

And the result :

IDLE TEMP :
XP-120 = 47c, BTVX = 47c

LOAD TEMP :
XP-120 = 65c, BTVX = 60c

Conclusion, BTVX is a good hsf (silent operation) and provide better cooling during cpu usage 90% and above....

A bit out of topic,

im running a e6300 @ 3.0ghz with Ds3, raptor 36gb and seagate 7200 250gb. Booting is kinda slow for a pretty fast system IMO ~ it takes 10 - 12 loading bars when booting to XP. THe lenovo computer @ my office (p4 3.0 ghz) only needs 6 bar to load into windows.

ANyone here having the same problems? Or is it not a problem?

Further information:
i connect my hard disk to the orange sata ports, which is from the ich8 chip not the jmicron. IIRC, it runs in IDE mode or some sort not AHCI (though i dont know what AHCI is sad.gif )

I have two optical drives connected to the PATA connector.

Using XP Pro SP2

EDIT: once booted, everything is snappy as it should be though. hdtach producing expeted results for my raptor (which is hosting my OS). SuperPI and 3Dmark benchies are all up to mark.

my AMD64 s754 system needs only 1.5 bars to load into windows lol. its not the problem about speed i think. but it is more to the windows installation (pirated ones includes some optimizations codes, thats why it's fast.)

not only the hardware buthen the software also causes slow start up. make sure u don't any rubbish applications appeared in the start up list. u can also check the bios.. disable those smart or what enhanced setting for hdd. hope this help wink.gif

p/s: my c2d e64, ds3, wd 7200 250gb takes about 3 bars. winxp pro
less than 2 bars for vista rtm wink.gif
Striker07
Is it necessary to update my bios in order to oc? I don't plan to stretch it to the max, just oc a little first with the stock HSF and hopefully the stock vcore.

And what are the risk of flashing my bios? Any tips to do it safely?

My mobo is a DS3 with F4 bios. Check my sig for the rest of my rig.

first of all, thanks for your response! thumbup.gif
but from 3 to 10? thats a lot to be caused by any softwares. Btw, there's not a lot of softwares that i install - on top of my head ~ AVG antivirus (the free one), Office 2003, CS:Source, Everest and other smaller ones which should not effect booting time (utorrent, firefox, cfospeed etc.) IIRC, on a freshly installed XP SP2, its already at 7-8 loading bars. blink.gif

One more thing, are u running in IDE or AHCI mode? you connect your hard disk on the orange or purple port?

I have 2 HDD - WD Raptor and the 250gb seagate. The raptor has 2 partitions, while the seagate has 3 partitions. Does the number of partitions live effects by booting time?

I guess i'll throw in the towel for tonite. Wasted like 2 hours reinstalling windows using the Jmicron (purple port) sata port and setting AHCI in the bios. It still boots at 10 bars or so after I installed the normal softwares/drivers; avg 7.5 free edition, nvidia drivers.

Im lost of ideas. the first restart after installing the chipset utilities (before installing other softwares mentioned above), it only took 2 bars to load. After install avg etc.. kaput already. Uninstalling the AVG only reduces like 2 bars to make it 8. sad.gif
