same case as mine, for my case, the vcore reading is not stable, from 1.40v drop to 1.38-1.39v. i suspect my psu. I try higher watt psu(ayam brand) test it out tonight.

QUOTE(RokXIII @ Sep 12 2006, 02:32 PM)
not sure coz i jus prime around 6 hours only, will try to prime longer later.
But now got another problem, the voltage seems like not stable. The +12v jus around 11.75-11.95 only, never exceed than 12. I sense by using the MSI core center(a voltage n temp sensor s/w), it show me this result.
But when I c the voltage in bios, it is totally different(never less than 12v). Then, which 1 should I refer to? 11.75-11.95 volt will bring damage to my hardware?
11.75 - 11.95 won't damage your hardware one, just that when doing o/c it will be fluctuate between the range.

Sep 14 2006, 04:50 PM
I believe if the fluctuate range is larger(till now i still dont know how large), it may cause hardware problem. Maybe i have to read the psu thread to find it out.

I believe the PSU playing major role in o/cing.Fluctuating causes instablity.

Hi all, please help to clarify ler..noob here
I'm using Pentium4 630 (3.0Ghz 2 MB) and Foxcon915 mobo. Try to change the FSB but only limit up to 215. More than that, the system rejected to default setting. Here a pic

New burn-in processor method.
Overclocked ur proc UNDER defaults voltage..
Results ! P4 630 3Ghz @ 3.825Ghz AT
1.34volts! Defaults
1.4volts!
method:
1)overclock proc at
default voltage to max (prime stable)
2)under volts at one notch..prime again..
3)keep under volts until prime95 unstable/error.
ive successfully under volts my P4 630 to 1.34volts.
from 1.4v,1.38,1.37,1.36,1.35 to 1.34volts.
Runs colder & ROCK Stable.

How actually this can be done?
raymond5105
Sep 21 2006, 08:13 AM
This can be done inside your bios mode....There are several choices for you to select there. But if not changing the value is always default.

Yeah already go to that option but locked. Any idea to unlock it? Kinda weird since there is option to change the FSB up to 300. But only can reach 215.

More than that, the sytem back to default. Erghhh please help!!

you ever try other divider? like
4:5, your fsb can go higher. i think maybe the ram is limiting you. what is your system spec?
*EDITED: should be
5:4......haha..confuse with mine.

I'm using Kingston 512MB DDR400, Value Ram. 4:5 ? What Ram spec meet that numbers? Totally noob here

Please suggest the Ram i should buy.
Pentium 630, 3.0Ghz 2Mb L2 cache (Prescot)
Foxconn915 mobo supporting up to PentiumD
512Mb Kingston DDR400 ram
Ninja Schyte cooler
kabukiawie
Sep 21 2006, 11:49 AM
you have to change the divider, i believe now you are running at 1:1 mean your ram speed and fsb is running at same speed. 5:4 mean if your fsb is 200 then your ram is 166. so your ram is running at lower speed then you have more rooms to push your fsb.

i think better leave this to expert, i am not a good overclocker.

i think you better read the fundamental of overcloking guide 1st. Nice guide over there.

u r using icute psu

Sep 24 2006, 05:18 PM
Seeing that u have oced your c2d successfully. I just need few pointers.
First thing first. I just Bought below spec.
E6300 + Stock HSF
Corsair VS 667 512 MB (1 stick only - next mth wil buy another one)
Gigabyte DS3
Sata1 160GB
X550 (next mth will upgrade...maybe)
Let's just assume I have ZERO knowledge to OC as the last time I tried to OC was the P43.0E only using a software called aibooster by Asus. and I hear people say that piece of software is bull...
I can navigate my way via Bios but was too scared to play around with it without a Guru guiding me.
Here is my aim. I'd like to just OC to maybe around 2.5 ghz only when I'm encoding video for my PSP and anime (DVD-AVI/MKV), so it's not 24/7 OCing.
Just interested to OC without upping the voltage and only while im encoding movies/anime.
I saw people use a software that was bundled with the DS3 board but was not sure whether that is a good choice to 'easily' oc.
Your experienced advise is much appreciated. and a step by step guid would be great too....
I'm sure you received a lot of post like this and I understand if you guys just point me to a thread for me to read first. In fact I have done a fair bit of searching and most of the guide assumed that the user knows sumthing on OCing and some of the new guide seems too outdated compared to today c2d boards.
Thanking you guys in advance for your help.
