Learning the Multiquote

First of all, I would like to show an example of double posting a.k.a Spamming.
user posted image

On the above picture, you see this guy posted twice. 2 times in a row without anyone posting in between. This is not neccacary as you could have posted the same message on only 1 post.

-----------------------------------------------------

The user posted image button is only used to reply to 1 post only immediately by quoating the post...

----------------------------------------------------

If you're replying 2 or more people in 1 go, Please make use of the Multiquote function.

What is multiquote? This is the multiquote button!
user posted image

Whe you click on it, nothing much will happened but the button will turn into this user posted image

So to reply to 2 people at the same time and you want to quote them, click on those buttons like this.
user posted image

Then click on the "Add Reply" button

user posted image
All the posts you quoated will be included into your reply so you can just add your texts in between them!

Thanks to n305er for the guide. Originally posted here

fariz (acedriver) wrote a guide on using 'thumbnails' when posting multiple pictures. When you're posting multiple pictures (more than 3), try using thumbnails instead so people are given a choice whether or not they want to load them.

The following is ripped from his post here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1.
Find the picture or pictures that you want to share with the forum. You may have found pictures surfing the web or you may have created some pictures by scanning something. SAVE THE PICTURES TO YOUR COMPUTER.
A word about picture formats. The preferred format for pictures is JPEG. BMP and PNG formats, while they can be used create much larger file sizes. GIFs will only be used if you have an animated one.

These are the two images that will be used as examples throughout this tutorial.

user posted image user posted image

The originals of these images are 700 x 886 pixels with a file size of 301KB and 2471 x 3128 pixels with a file size of 484KB .

Step 2.
Select your Image hosting service and upload your images to them. The image hosting service will provide the code that will be needed for posting the thumbnailed pictures on the forum.

A picture host must offer a link to a clickable thumbnail to be useful to you here.

The two most commonly used image hosting sites are:

ImageShack

and

ImageVenue

ImageShack allows all the common picture file types to be uploaded and has a limit on file size of 1024KB. You can upload pictures one at a time at no charge and no registration is required. If you want to upload more than 1 picture at a time you will need to register and purchase credits. Upload is by zip folder and the zip is limited to 5MB.

These are samples of the code link pages that are returned by ImageShack.

These came from uploading the images one at a time.

This is what the thumbnails look like when hosted on ImageShack.

user posted image user posted image

Step 3.
Copy and paste the preformatted code provided by the hosting site into the space for your post message. It is not necessary to use any other tags. Simply copy and paste.

It will look like this.
user posted image

Please read the code link pages and use the correct line as identified by the hosting site. This shows the correct ones from ImageShack.

Some tips on making your post look good.
After you have pasted a line of code for your picture hit the space bar before you paste the next line of code. Then you will have your pictures tiled horizontily so people won't have to scroll up and down. If you have lots of pictures group them in groups of 5 or 6 by hitting the enter key between groups. Make sure you look carefully at the preview of your post before submitting it to make sure it looks good and all your link are loading.

To All Football Lounge Members:

It has come to the moderating team's attention that some members are directly/indirectly violating these rules when posting:

1. Name Calling

Some time ago, there was a specific thread regarding this rule where a list of words/terms which considered as name calling was compiled and will be updated as more entries are added. Unfortunately for some reason the thread was gone but even without the thread, the name calling rule is actually still intact and applied in Football Lounge.

Here is a list of words/terms which considered as name calling: * Last updated: *

1. assanal
2. chelshit
3. liverfool/loserpool
4. manure

Note: The list will be updated from time to time to include other words/terms. But since the moderating team might not know/heard of all the offensive name calling so please kindly drop alien2003 a PM if you think of any words/terms which need to be added in. Do keep in mind that the moderating team will discuss with the admins on any inputs before deciding whether it will be included in the list. Since this will be part of the sub-forum rules so the admins will have the final decision upon any suggestions from you all.

We know some will say its part of football where rivals supporters exchange banters & taunt each others. But we don't think using such name calling words/terms is part of it. If someone call your name with some offensive words, will you get angry about it? The same apply to the player/club names. When encounter such post, some might just be cool and carry on posting/browsing but some might not and they could overreact. In the end it will spark a flame war in the thread which the post was posted.

Anyone who found violating this rule will be given a warning if its first offense. For repeated offenses, suspension will be given [length of suspension depends on the number of times the offender committed the offense].

2. Vulgarism/Use of vulgars [Directly/Indirectly]

It has come to our attention that some members are using vulgars when posting.

Although the vulgar(s) is/are not posted directly [eg: typing the complete/full word] but instead they used special characters like " * " / " @ " to replace certain alphabet of the original word. Example: f*ck or @sshole

Another method used by some members is to reorder the alphabets of the original words. Example: cnut or fcuk

You all should be reminded that even though you do not post the vulgars directly but it will still considered as vulgarism depending on the context of your post.

Here are 2 examples which show whether its considered as vulgarism or not:

Example 1 (Vulgarism)

Let's assume someone posted this: "F*ck you motherfuker!". Based on the context of the post, its pretty obvious that the user is using vulgarity intentionally even though its a in a form of masked/mis-spelled vulgarity.

Example 2 (Not Vulgarism)

Now if someone posted this instead: "WTF? How did that happened?". In this case its considered as a form of expression by the user where the abbreviation happen to have vulgar words as part of abbreviation.

So the same word posted in different way will have different meaning depending on the context of the post.

Anyone who found violating this rule will be given a warning if its first offense. For repeated offenses, suspension will be given [length of suspension depends on the number of times the offender committed the offense].

Note1 : This rule on vulgarism has been applied to all main & sub forums in LYN (Link).

Note2 : Any questions/doubts, feel free to PM alien2003 or TheWhacker smile.gif.

QUOTE(RBR @ Mar 22 2008, 10:57 AM)
The use of vulgarities is prohibited. It was never allowed in the first place, which is why we filtered them out. However, since people are circumventing the filters, from now on, if you use 'fark' or any other word which is essentially conveying the same thing, it is punishable by a warning.

To reflect this as official policy, we have dutifully updated the board R&R:- http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=boardrules

Action: Using profanities or vulgarities, as determined according to discretion of a member of the moderating team
Result: A warning is issued for the first offence, and suspensions for multiple offences.

The reasons why its not allowed:-

1. It is unnecessary. Other words will serve you just as well.

2. LYN is viewed in offices, schools, colleges, universities and even at home where parents might not approve of foul language. Its important we have an image as a clean forum.

3. It is uncouth.

4. Plenty of people are misusing the leverage we've been giving so far.

There will be plenty of grey areas, which will be dealt with at the discretion of the moderator.
There will be inconsistencies, which is an unfortunate consequence of every new rule.
There will be misgivings, but they should iron out after a while.

If you're concerned, the best way is simply to avoid putting yourself in a situation where it may be seen as vulgar.

As always, Feedback Desk for any feedback  smile.gif
