Guys,
I have a Kenwood CD player which is already whacked...the CD wont eject..
So I tot of buying an MP3 player and connect a Line In cable to the car's audio..
Can it be done?
Coz buying an MP3 player and a new CD player costs almost the same..
Sumthing like:-

yeah...if your HU support line in...then there is no problem....
if no...then can think about to add one cheap amplifier, then you also can enjoy your mini mp3 player in your car....

i installed a cheap amp to my car and listen to ipod everyday. i dun have radio because my radio signals are in japanese frequency channel, meaning i dun have access to numbers more than 90. (ie. 92.9, 94.5)
but if u have radio and CD player no working, i believe, if not mistaken, u can install an amp, listen to mp3 player with line in and at the same time can switch to listen to radio too.
edit : installation + amp cost be about RM300 or slightly more

Not sure where this question belongs, but how do you connect your PPC to your car audio system? On my case, it's a Dell Axim X50v with 3.5mm normal headphone jack.
I already have 1 Kenwood Cd player in my car, now still don't have any other component except speakers.
I search the website a bit and saw some successful example which they connect the PPC directly to the amp. Base on that, i checked with 2 audio accesories shop, both of them say cannot. Must use a player with Aux in cable jack. (which is only available on the expensive player).
So any idea how does it works? i'm going to buy an amp sooner or later for the subwoofer. but if they wants me to change to more expensive player with Aux in, would be too much for me tho....
edit:sorry Mod, i just saw the ICE forum. maybe u can move this into that forum.

Aug 21 2005, 02:46 PM
just get a FM Modulator..
icez
Aug 21 2005, 03:58 PM
You could connect it directly to the amp but u may run into some trouble. If you try to conenct both the CD player n ur Dell into the same input using a Y-connector (splitter) you might not be able to hear the audio from either one of the devices if the current output leves are different.

preamp .. ok
hehehehe damn i don't even know what a preamp is hehe

well if u wanna connect ur speakers to ur hp or ipod for example...then u need a amplifier to power up all ur speakers n if u have woofer then another amplifier is required...then after that u put one preamp to control both of this amps.....then on the input part of ur preamp...u buy a rca to headphone jack cable....depends...then connect it n walla...u r ready...n the sound will be awesome...

ic...
really?...cassete player?...hehe..
never see one in the market..
it would be easy if using mp3 player or ipod to play mp3, cds have to burn to it and limited storage also hard to manage.
i know there is an audio player in u.s, it is just for ipod only..
thanks for the feedback!

I've been searching high and low for this, but couldn't find any solution. My Sony CDA-CA750X has a Bus Audio In.
I tried to connect my iriver mp3 to the bus audio in. problem is i can't select Audio In mode. Only FM and CD mode is selectable. Anybody know how to override this, so that i can select Bus Audio In Mode? (that means try to fool the head unit thinking that the MP3 player is actually a CD-Changer or MD)
Refer Image for illustration.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Also, in the manual it says "This unit cannot be connected to a digital preamplifier or equalizer" .. does it mean i can't add preamp?
Thanks.

ok thanx. anyway , preamp is my last option. If i'm not mistaken, the player already has a preamp built-in.
prefer to find ways to connect mp3 player straight to the unit, since it already has an audio in. just need to find ways to hack it.. any help would be appreciated!

even u connect the mp3 player line out to the bus line in, u still wont be able to turn on the function..
there is a function to turn on the aux in...but, u need to connect the bus line out to some signal to tell the hu there is something connected and the aux in will be available in the function..
conclude:
if u just connect hu line in to the mp3 line out, u will definitely wont able to hear the sound because the hu haven turn on the function..and to turn on the function, u need to make the hu to sense the device..
