Its good you guys are discussing where Streamyx is available in M'sia. However, the list does not say where there is NO LANDLINES so no possibility of any telephone line, so NO STREAMYX or whatever!

And do you know where this is happening? Right here in the heart of KL (a mere 8km from KLCC!) in Ukay Perdana! I've lived here for past 2 years and luckily have a handphone else, it'll be just like living in the jungle and up a treehouse! What a joke!

If anyone's been to Ukay Perdana, there are a lot of housing complex there, almost 80% occupied (I'd say about 3-4000 households) and yet, Telekom (or any other telecommunication GIANTS in M'sia) has NOT laid any landlines (the most basic telecommunication offering) in Ukay Perdana! The shops here make do with Telekom's wireless service but still NO STREAMYX!

I think some other areas may also suffer the same fate as the people in Ukay Perdana (even in Selangor Negeri Maju 2005) and in other parts of KL itself.

Why is this happening?!?!?!

From that picture you posted, I see that your area does not support streamyx at the moment.

Anyway, the list that I provided might not be a complete list.

I feel sorry for you. I'm one of the many citizens waiting anxiously for streamyx but after taking a look at the list above, I'm totally devastated. No streamyx in my area too.

I personally think that Malaysia's infrastructure is totally crap.

If they say no port, means they have the service but not enough capacity for more users. Just have to wait for them to upgrade.

But you have to double check. Sometimes TMNet gives crap answers.

Okay , look Ukay perdana..look dude , here..If you want jaring..go call jaring and ask them to install somaport here , just write a letter from everyone put a signature..sure jaring will put a soma station and cover your area up..trust me.. , it will work...because jaring wants more users (btw , you might want to try jaring wireless bb..oh yeah > 8km..mm..risky)

What's the minimum range for Jaring wireless BB? Too bad Ipoh got no other options but streamyx. phuc!

0m - 7km....(something like streamyx but its wireless..of course our area is not covered...so the connection is like so-so (200Kbps - 1.5Mbps ..sometimes drops)..But in Ipoh..err , you only got streamyx choice (hopefully jaring will expand and then its soo easy)

Blah..it'll take years for them to start investing in Ipoh. Jaring's resources not as much as Telekom's. Totally no competition...that's why TMNet squeezing everyone's balls.

I already PM JaringWireless (another LYN forum-er who apparently represents Jaring with regards to JWBB) but unfortunately, Ukay Perdana still no coverage as of yet.No fault of JaringWireless (the forum-er)....but I thinks, its a lost opportunity.

Right now, Ukay Perdana is telekom no mans land. Nobody wants to provide telekom infra here, not even with the potential of 4000 households subscribers.

I suggest you , write a letter to Jaring (I think they will be intrested in this)..and you might get it....trust me , just write a letter to jaring (don't pm the forumers here..instead write directly..who knowns..jaring willl expand at your area instead)

I've done that when JWBB was launched. I went to KLCC branch. They said, no coverage. So I registered my interest online.

Actually I think the list a bit too small ler..
In my place also only limited number of ppl can get. Cuz the range is only till what, 1/10 of the taman. All other places they say out of bounds d.
And whats more, out of them 1/10 half of them are not using telekom phones, they are under Jaring phone lines, so tmnut sez they can't use streamyx even though they are in the coverage area.
And Jaring BB doesn't cover them there since we are in JB.
I reli pity my frens staying there.

You know what, I think, Ukay Perdana, being the limbo land that it is, its just not possible for Jaring to provide coverage there. I mean, the BS must be on some backbone infra right? Is this wireless too ?? i.e; there is no physical line for the huge bandwith traffic to Jaring Node?

So, Ukay Perdana=no lines whatsoever, so,=no BS?

Otherwise, it'd just be a case of finding a plase to put the BS right? I mean, if it was all wireless, all the way to Jaring Node? right?

YEAH , ITS wirleess , no wire..it uses CDMA Radio technology to find the Jaring Node..and then links with it , creates a partnership....Again , I went to KLCC (just buat bodoh and asked them)

Again , you must write a leter , to jaring. thats the best way out of this. you must tell them that many ppl are intrested. i think there are expanding to setapak area. once they do , tmnet will suck !

I really do hope Jaring is able to expand fast. Time's Webbit is not doing so well at the moment. Must bring in some competition. Cant always let TMNet control the market.

If any company can come out with broadband through power sockets, it is a big blow to the other ISPs.

may i know what are the infrastructure of buildings at Ukay Perdana?
condos? terraces? shopping complexes?
i brought this matter to my boss and he needed more info abt Ukay Perdana before we can think of the possible solutions. so anyone mind sharing?

Ukay Perdana consist of (est.);
1) 4 Apartment complex (about 1000unit each)
2) 2 double storey link housing areas (roughly 3-400 households each)
3) 2 semi-D housing areas (roughly 2-300 households each).
4) a commercial area (about 200 shophouses)

I'd say, roughly 4-5000 households

more developments are coming up (serviced apts and commercial hub)

Location is in between Bukit Antarabangsa/Ukay Heights and Zoo Negara/Wangsa Melawati.It is hilltop development (ideal for a BS?)

eh when jaring launched, i was told that they r going to setup a basestation at ukay heights. well, thats wat the sales department dude told me. but till now still no news bout that.

n also, last time when i asked for the sales dept phone num from the callcentre dude, he gave me the GM's number instead. The secretary was like "Huh?! This is the GM's office" and I said "Oh, nvm" instead.

Not anytime soon i guess, if not mistaken they only plan to cater this service only for the klang valley at this time.

i'm making a petition for Ukay Perdana right now. it will be passed to the resident's committee and after that the development team will go there to survey the area. get as many ppl at Ukay Perdana to sign the petition!

450-500 DSL houses
approx. 100 Double Storey semi-D houses
another 250 DSL houses to be handed over by the developer (Equine Park)

Adjacent area of Pinggiran Putra has

approx. 1000 units of apartments all occupied (Talam Development)
200 units of shop lots.

Another adjacent area Lestari Puchong:

Approx. 500 units of DSL houses.

Further developments are coming up in Pusat Bandar Putra Permai.

There is nothing that you can do but to go for another broadband option if there is one in your area.

I am using Jaring Wireless (thank god , my house face direct to KLCC) (They said my signal like 5-6/10 , so good enough for outta coverage area)..padam muka tmnet..poor cable..ha ha ha , cakap besar...Nut crackers ,Inc..Always call me and say we have activated your line and we will send an installer ...ish ish...

damn, faking tmnet outlist my taman again! sigh....
